Hello everyone, this post is slightly different to our others. We wanted to shed some light on our planet and in particular, the environment. There is so much talk about climate change and pollution but sometimes it just seems like nobody really cares about these issues or that they’re just dismissed. In this post we’ve shared a few facts in relation to the environment, talked a bit about Glastonbury festival being plastic free and what we at Prana Café do to help the environment. Some facts…
- WORLDWIDE, over two million plastic bags are used every day!
- Plastic production has doubled over the last 50 years.
- Over six million tons of litter enters oceans every year and over 50% of it is long-lasting plastic which means it will just drift around for years before it’s degraded.
Glastonbury festival went plastic-free for the first time ever in 2019. This is massive as every year thousands of bottles of water are wasted at festivals alone. Festival attendees were greeted by environmentalist David Attenborough who took the stage to give a few words. He said “The ocean covers two-thirds of this planet of ours … the land only covers one third of the globe. There are seven great continents on which we human beings live. Each of them has its own marvellous creatures – birds and mammals, animals of all kinds. Each of them has its own glory, each of them has its own problems.”How Prana Café helps the environment
Here at Prana Café, we don’t just want to be good for you, we want to be good for the environment too. Our straws, cold and hot drink takeaway cups are all stocked by a company called Enviropack. Enviropack create environmentally friendly products and packaging. Their ethos is making sure all products are produced and sourced ethically. Our cold drink takeaway cups are produced from a plant based PA material and our hot drink takeaway cups are made from food grade paper. As well as this, our straws are 100% compostable and eco-friendly. In store, we also make sure our cartons are recycled and we only sell bottled and canned drinks meaning that when you pick Prana Café, you’re picking a guilt-free and plant based meal which is great for you but also great for the environment.
Be a part of the solution, not part of the pollution!
